Incredibly exciting news for G1 fans! Shout! Factory, who is responsible for all G4 DVD releases and the recent re-releases of the G3 films, has set their sights on the original My Little Pony television series. This four-disc set will include all 65 episodes of the original series.

The set will be released on September 30, 2014, along with another DVD set titled My Little Pony: Escape From Catrina And Other Adventures which will include the Escape From Catrina film and a few classic episodes.

My Little Pony Collector wrote an article on the upcoming sets here along with episode listings for the TV collection.

Neither set is up for pre-order yet, but we will let you know as soon as they are.

Also coming in September is Spooktacular Pony Tales which includes the episodes “Boast Busters”, “Stare Master”, “Luna Eclipsed”, “Sleepless in Ponyville”, “Castle Mane-ia”, and “Bats!”.

Prototypes of Rarity and Daring Do Funko vinyls were posted over at Funko’s forums. Rarity is the last of the mane six to receive a full-size vinyl figure. No release date as of yet, but my guess is this set will be another pre-order exclusive for Hot Topic.

4DE announced these three plush for their fall line-up: Princess Luna and Doctor Whooves. The Doctor will have two variants, pictured above.

4DE confirmed that the remainder of the mane six — Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash — will also be released this fall. Fluttershy will be up for preorder soon, although they still have not given an exact date, instead saying that the “wait is almost over”.

Finally! After several years and an incredible hike in resale value, Applejack is getting a Fashion Style re-release. There will be some differences between her original version and this one. New Applejack has multicolored hair in the Rainbow Power fashion and no forelock. She comes with boots, a saddle, and hat, this time in brown instead of pink.

And here is a bit of a surprise: Daisy Dreams will also be receiving a Rainbow Power Fashion Style doll. She comes with a skirt, shoes, basket, and various accessories.

Both ponies were once again found on Kmart’s online store but are not yet available for sale.

Another Rainbow Rocks short has been posted. In ‘A Case for the Bass’, Granny Smith accidentally sells Applejack’s precious bass at a yard sale. Can she and her friends get it back?

Remember those goth ponies we saw at this year’s Toy Fair? Well, here they are in package! As suspected they are Toys R Us exclusives and part of a line called Pony Mania. It looks like they will be the equivalent to the ‘Favorites Collection’ Toys R Us has released for the past two years.

The set features Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Princess Celestia, and Princess Twilight Sparkle, all decked out in elaborate eye make-up, tattoos, and accessories.

This set was found on Taobao. No release date is known yet.

I’m trying to catch up on some news from my unexpected hiatus. Here are some interesting new ponies for you!

The 2014 Toy Fair showcased little in the way of new characters, but these two mysterious ladies popped up on Kmart’s online store. Not only are they new characters… they’re princesses! Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling will be released in two-packs with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, respectively. They are part of the Rainbow Power line. Both princesses are in Princess Celestia’s mold with brushable hair and tail, and each come with a crown and comb. As often happens with Kmart, it looks like these two were listed early and were promptly pulled from the site, but you can see the remains of their listings here and here.

No info as to who these two are — whether they will be new characters in the cartoon or upcoming Rainbow Rocks movie, or if they’re simply ponies designed for the toy line. Whatever the case, I’m sure happy to see some new ponies!

The next My Little Pony: Equestria Girls movie, Rainbow Rocks, will be released in late September of this year. According to this Filmjournal article, it looks as though the film will once again be shown in select theaters thanks to Screenvision. From the article:
2013 was also a great year for family-friendly alternative-content programs such as the BBC’s One Life documentary narrated by Daniel Craig, and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls from Hasbro and Shout! Factory. Following the exceptional box-office performance, Screenvision has again partnered with Hasbro and Shout! Factory to release My Little Pony: Rainbow Rocks in late September and has extended family-friendly programming to include Barbie: The Pearl Princess and Disney XD’s Slugterra: Rise of the Elementals.
