My Little Pony Pillow Pets

This Rainbow Dash “pillow pet” was found on eBay by MLP Arena member cloud_weaver. Although it’s highly likely that this is a bootleg item, it’s still a very unique little plush that I thought you guys might like to see!

2013 Comic-Con Exclusive Ponies by Funko

Funko is the company responsible for producing the vinyl ponies found at Hot Topic, as well as the upcoming Pop! figures. They recently released hints to their exclusive Comic-Con figures which included two ponies! Here are the hints:

56. My Little Vinyls get so clear and sparkly! - $20
57. My Little Vinyls get so clear and sparkly too! - $20

This photo surfaced on the FunkoFunatic forums:

There is a clear Derpy Hooves/Ditzy Doo variant lurking behind the pencil holder! I’d hazard a guess that she is one of the exclusive ponies. As to who the second one is, only time will tell.

I was wondering about a the paint and style clay pony set. I can't find many information about it. It's already released? I want to see how it is

As of now it appears to be a UK/possibly Euro release only. You can purchase it through Amazon UK and ASDA Direct. I’m not sure if it will ever see a US release.

The Brony Thank You Fund 501(c)(3) Celebration Give-Away

image

The Brony Thank You Fund has achieved tax-exempt status and is holding a pretty spectacular pony-filled giveaway in celebration. They can explain it better than I can, so here is a little copy and paste:

Admittedly, 501(c)(3) Celebration doesn’t really roll off the tongue, but we’re still pretty durn excited about finally getting our tax-exempt status! To create an appropriately celebratory mood, we consulted an expert on the subject, and Pinkie Pie responded “PARTIES! PRESENTS!”

Alas, we can’t invite you all to a party, the Fund headquaters is a little small for that. But we can definitely get down with the idea of presents! We’ve reached into our big bag of goodies, and have a few major ones we’d like to share with our May donors.

So, here’s the deal. We’re going to make a list of all the people who donate at least $20.00 USD to us via PayPal in May. After the month is over, we’re going to randomly select winners for the following amazing prizes!

First Prize #1: A Brony Thank You Fund “Standing Ovation” Poster, slightly obscured with ink marks
This is the famous Pixelkitties “Standing Ovation” poster. One of these hangs on the wall at DHX in Vancouver. Unfortuantely, this one has some ink marks on it, so it’s no longer in mint condition. Specifically, the following signatures:

VAs
  • Ashleigh Ball
  • Andrea Libman
  • Cathy Weseluck
  • Nicole Oliver
  • Tara Strong
  • Tabitha St. Germain
  • Michelle Creber
  • John de Lancie
  • Lee Tockar
  • Peter New
  • Andrew Francis
Writers & Show Staff
  • Lauren Faust
  • Jayson Thiessen
  • Meghan McCarthy
  • Amy Keating Rogers
  • Sabrina “Sibsy” Alberghetti
  • M. A. Larson
  • Cindy Morrow
  • Steffan Andrews
  • Daniel Ingram
  • Andy Price
  • Katie Cook
  • Stephanie Buscema
Some of these autographs, such as Lauren, Jayson and Ashleigh, can be very hard to get, and the chance to get 23 of them on a single poster is almost unheard of. There have only ever been 3 of these autographed posters, and the last one is going up for auction at Everyfree Northwest.  Comes with a letter of authenticity from the Fund.

First Prize #2: Sabrina “Sibsy” Alberghetti will do a custom drawing of your OC
There’s lots of artists out there that will draw a picture of your OC, but how often do you get a chance to have your OC drawn by one of the storyboard artists for Friendship is Magic? If you already have a well developed OC, or have always wanted to create the perfect one, you may never get another chance to have it done by Sibsy. For the usual legal reasons, the drawing must be of a non-trademarked pony, but if you have a pony of your own (or a friend’s) that you’ve always wanted to have an awesome picture of, you might very well get it!

Second Prize: One of twenty MLP Trading Card Mats
Enterplay and Ultrapro teamed up to send us a box of these awesome limited edition trading mats, and we’d love you to have one. Twenty lucky donors will receive a mat at the end of the month, just the thing on which to spread out your cards for all to admire at the next Meet-Up!
To donate to the fund, just click on that happy little “Donate” button at the upper lefthoof corner of the website. Cut-off time for donations to be considered for our give-away is 11:59PM Eastern time on May 31st, 2013. Hopefully many will enter, few will win.

FAQ:

Q: Will donating more increase my chances?
A: We encourage you to donate as much as you’d like to help our causes, but donating more than $20 does not increase your chances of getting something.

Q: What are the limits on the OC drawing that Sibsy will be doing?
A: Single character, no trademarked characters, no background.

Some really spectacular prizes for fans of the show and for a great cause too! You can find out what The Brony Thank You Fund is all about here.

Thank you texasuberalles for the heads up!

hi do you have any dates for My Little Pony Equestria Girls in the uk?

Not at the moment. If I come across anything, I’ll post it here!

I’m not sure if EQG is coming to UK theatres, but the film will likely be aired on television, probably on whatever network plays Friendship is Magic over there.

Just a heads up you can embed the video into the post by clicking on 'get code' on the NYT video on the top right. Then clicking 'get code' and pasting it in the HTML editor in a text post on tumblr, keep in mind it looks really bad.

I copied that directly from the main site, and it wasn’t working over there haha. There is also a YouTube mirror already.

Thank you for the head’s up though!

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - NY Times article + brand new trailer

The New York Times has posted yet another article on the upcoming My Little Pony: Equestria Girls movie. It is accompanied by the first ever trailer for the film. Unfortunately, it does not seem as though I can embed it here. From the article:

Hasbro, the toy company that brought its Transformers and G.I. Joe properties to movie theaters, has set its sights on its next summer blockbuster: My Little Pony.

The ponies, a Hasbro staple for 30 years, have experienced a resurgence of popularity lately, thanks in part to the TV series “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.” Hoping to build on that interest, Hasbro recently revealed plans for brand extension called Equestria Girls.

The new property will get the red-carpet treatment when it premieres as a full-length animated feature at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June. The movie, created by Hasbro Studios, the company’s production division, will then be released in more than 200 theaters nationwide; its trailer will start appearing in theaters on Wednesday.

“We are responding to the desire by our fans to experience the brand in more ways,” said John A. Frascotti, Hasbro’s chief marketing officer. “They imagined themselves as which pony they would be or which pony they identified with the most.”

So Hasbro created Equestria Girls, a parallel world in which the My Little Pony characters were reconceived as teenage girls in high school. To maintain continuity, Hasbro retained the same creative talent, animation style and message of friendship.

“Our goal is to stay true to who those characters are,” said Meghan McCarthy, the head writer for the movie, adding that the high school setting allowed for new storytelling possibilities. “It’s new but still an extension of our mythology.”

The movie — titled “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls” — will be released on DVD later in the United States and other markets worldwide, followed by a television debut on the Hub network in the fall.

You can read the full article and watch the trailer here. The trailer introduces some new characters including the (human) debut of Sunset Shimmer.

Equestria Girls Site Launched

Hasbro has launched their site for Equestria Girls. As of now, there is nothing there but a holding page. If you’re interested in this spin-off series, keep your eyes on this page!

The masquerade mask Playful Ponies are now available at Toys R Us in the States. I picked up a Sunset Shimmer today. You can see her on my tumblr. Just a heads up, as this is the first I've seen of them in stores.

Thank you!

For those of you who can’t find them in stores, they are also available on hasbrotoyshop.com. :)
